Breakups, Olympics, and a Disappearing Sun: The Year in Impact Blogs

Reading Time: 3 minutes

You’ll have to pardon the pun, but 2024 has been an Impactful year for the Partnership. Record-setting months, award-winning site and graphic design, and the latest and greatest advisor events all marked Impact’s best year ever — until 2025, that is.

For the end of the year, we’re giving our readers a rundown of some of our more unique and perceptive blogs from the past twelve months. While all of our blogs help financial advisors improve and hone their practice, the ones featured below took a novel look at the financial world, casting established habits in a new light or suggesting totally new paths forward for enterprising advisors. If you missed them the first time around, now’s the chance to make up for lost time; if you read these blogs right as they hit your inbox, then a second look might be what you need for inspiration in the new year!

Love is a Battlefield: Help Prospects Break Up with Their Current Financial Advisor

Great clients, like great recruits, tend to draw a lot of attention. What if a great client wants to become your great client, but just can’t leave their current advisor? This post from February details the best way to address the situation, how to counsel your potential client, and how to help them find the right words to break up with a financial advisor that’s wrong for them.

How to Throw a Spectacular Total Eclipse Party

The total eclipse which passed over the United States in April made for a unique client event opportunity. And if you read our Eclipse Party blog, you would’ve learned a ton of tips for hosting an out-of-this-world event for your clients! While the next total eclipse won’t pass over the United States until 2045 — plenty of time to get that party on the calendar! — these ideas could inspire the next extraordinary party for your practice.

5 Ways Financial Advisors Can Win Olympic Gold with Their Clients

This summer’s 33rd Olympiad broke records for ticket sales, marked the first medals for seven participants, and saw the United States win the medal count at 126. (Host country France placed fifth with 64 medals, though the French men’s BMX team did manage the games’ only podium sweep.)

Athletes weren’t the only winners, however. Our Olympic blog keyed advisors into the best ways to win gold with their clients, from optimizing the gymnastics of your office experience to the triathlon-like balance of hosting a First Friday.

4 Mistakes Financial Advisors Should Avoid Making

Even at the heights of success, financial advisors should still be wary of making mistakes, especially those which can come from careless behavior. This post discusses some of the mistakes advisors could be making without even realizing it (when’s the last time you updated that logo?), as well as the mistakes made playing with still-developing technology (how heavily are you relying on A.I?)

Robo-Advisors and You: Making the Most of Modern Technology

There’s always a new tech buzzword flying around the financial services industry. One of the latest is the “robo-advisor,” automated investment software which can help make simple investment decisions for its user. But what is its place within the financial services industry? Should it even have a place? Our robo-blog lists the upsides, downsides, and best practices for using this emerging tech.

But don’t limit yourself to these hits. The entire back catalog of Impact Blogs is available to read at any time, and you can always look forward to next year’s batch!
