This Holiday Season, Let Your Clients Know They’re Appreciated

Reading Time: 3 minutes

As we’re sure you know from a previous blog, the holiday season is no time to slow your practice down. But, while that post talks about the business end of your practice, we now turn attention to the engagement end of your practice: letting your clients know how much you appreciate their business.

The holiday season typically means coming together with friends, family and loved ones to enjoy the end of the year, the coming of the next one, and for celebrating the yuletide spirit. Now’s the perfect time to touch base with your clients and let them know that you appreciate their business.

How, you ask?

Cards

Who doesn’t enjoy getting a letter in the mail? A simple but colorful solution, a customized letter to your clients over the holidays shows that you care about them. In writing a card, don’t be afraid to delve into personal anecdotes — maybe you helped a client resolve their estate after a parent passed. Mention that! Make sure your relationship comes through in your card.

The Impact creative team excels at crafting bright, unique and memorable holiday cards. Whether you want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas or reach out with a Happy Holidays, we can make the card that makes the difference for your practice!

Calls

If you prefer a conversation with your clients, a warm and cheerful phone call can do the trick. Sound professional by preparing your thoughts beforehand, but don’t feel like you have to write out an entire monologue — a brief outline with your key points keeps your call sounding conversational, not rehearsed. (In the event you’re sent to voicemail, however, having a paragraph ready wouldn’t hurt.)

If your practice has a referral program or a client advisory board, a personal call to members would make a key difference in setting you apart as an advisor who cares. Mention your appreciation of their involvement in making your practice bigger, broader, and better, and maybe let them in on what’s in store for the coming year.

Holiday Parties

Who doesn’t love a great holiday party? From themed party snacks to a swinging soundtrack, a holiday party is a surefire way to involve your clients and let them know they’re high on your Nice List.

The classic holiday cocktail party is always a hit, so it’s a no-brainer to host an elegant Christmas party at a fancy location. Your clients get to dress up for a classy evening, and you get to let them know that, 1.) You care about how they spend their holidays, and 2.) you’re an advisor with taste.

Keep in mind that some number of your clients will be out of town closer to Christmas. Schedule your party a week or two in advance to avoid a flurry of “I’d Love to, But I Can’t” responses.

Embrace the Unconventional

While a tried-and-true holiday party works, why not aim for something new for the end of 2024? Unlike the typical catered event, something outside-the-box can be fresh and invigorating for your clients — showing you’re ready to push the envelope for them.

A new kind of client appreciation event is a great move for the holidays. Instead of a regular evening at the typical restaurant, a classy evening at the museum goes against expectations and sets you up as a unique and forward-thinking advisor.

However you share your appreciation this holiday season, make sure it’s got your personal touch. Don’t hold back on getting personal or sentimental! Be honest, be open, and let your clients know they’re appreciated.
